Isa...Print Prowl

'IT IS NOT COMMON,' was the theme I chose for my latest design project, this time focussing on Print.

Saatchi searching I found beautifully crafted sculptures by Ida Ekblad, ( http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/artists/ida_ekblad.htm?section_name=paint_artist )where she arranged discarded urban finds in fantastically charming compositions. Inspired.

From there I thought, 'what discarded items could I collect to accelerate this project', my train of thought lead me to stones, then deciding on a more impressive upgrade, gemstones.

In my research i came across another fantastic artist called Melanie Bonajo ( http://www.ppowgallery.com/selected_work.php?artist=8&image=2 ) who strapped discarded urban items onto the naked female form, again brilliant compositions.

As part of my design development I collaged onto Bonajos photographs ...

From these collages came my final designs (three uploaded here), with collaged print ideas inspired from the intricate geometric nature of a gemstone melange  ...

'He dreamed of making movies. I dreamed of crossing America with him. To get him to follow me, I suggested that during the trip we make a film about our life together. He agreed, and on January 3rd, 1992, we left New York in his silver Cadillac and headed for California. One day nine months later- we hadn't yet written the words "THE END" on our movie - i reached with my hand under the car-seat to slide it forward, and came across a black plastic bag. I opened it. It contained letters, 24 to be exact, in Greg's handwriting, all addressed to a certain H, and sent- as the postmarks showed- during the course of 1992. I didn't know why but they were back in his possession, and he had chosen to hide them there. I read them all. and stole two. One because in it he says: "I'll be free in October." The other, for this phrase: "... with Sophie I have this 'baby' that wouldn't have existed if I hadn't so much passion for you...". I had given Greg the chance to fulfil his deepest desire, and here he was thanking another woman. A few days later he handed me a letter: " Sophie, I always knew you would come into my life. I want you also to know that I love you, and that you became the most precious thing to me."


...Doubting this, I decided to prove his letter right: he would be free in October.'

WHITE PROJECT: 'EMPTY CURTAINS'

My project focussed on stalkers, paparazzi, perversion and voyeurism. 'Empty Curtains' linking to a state of mind a stalker can develop... believing his/her victim tries to communicate their love for them through the twitching of their curtains, as they open and shut them every morning, every night.

I wanted the piece to be very tailored and well finished, also to have a defined geometric nature to it and its overall silhouette.

Exquisite Escada

 Escada was busy as the baftas are coming up so lucky me got to see the latest bafta dresses before they hit the stores yipeeee! I had such a lovely time during my work experience at Escada and I just wanted to share with you some of my favorite pieces from the fashion cuboard...

The first one is a vintage escada dress... floor lenght..covered in sequins ....could a dress get more fabulous !
